cannot traslate text from english to spanish in word 2002

When I try to translate a word the "translate what" task pane offers "no
suggestions". I have tried the "text" box and the "current selection" option
and both give me the same result "no suggestions". The English to Spanish
dictionary shows in the "look up in dictionary" area. Please help.
