Cannot Uninstall 2003 Office Beta

O

Oliver Wayne

When trying to uninstall 2003 Office Beta, I receive a
error dialog box saying "Windows Installer Terminated
Prematurely". Clicking OK on that dialog, displays
another which says "The I/O operation has been aborted
because of either a thread or an application request."

I have no other programs running when trying to uninstall.

I have checked MS FAQ, Newsgroups, etc and found out that
a virus could cause this behaviour. I have used the
latest MacAfee and determined that I do NOT have a
virus.

Another suggested solution had me download the 2.0
version of Windows Installer, which would not execute
with XP Pro.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Oliver,

If you use Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the Windows Task Manager
how many instances of MSIExec are listed as running?

Do you have any software such as antivirus running
when uninstalling?

Hi Bob,

Before I attempted the uninstall I shutdown everything,
including my anti-virus software. Without the
uninstaller running there are no instances of msiexec
running. With uninstaller running there are two
instances, one of them is owned by the SYSTEM user while
the other is owned by my login, which has administrator
priviledges.

Thanks,
-Michael

Hi,

I have the same problem without a anti-virus software and
also 2 instances of msiexec. Have you found a way to
remove the Beta from your computer?

Thanks

Charles
