Cannot uninstall/reinstall Office Small Business 2007 - error code 25004

Cannot uninstall/reinstall Office Small Business 2007 despite trying many approaches.

History:

* I had to reinstall Windows XP due to a non-office problem
* After reinstall of XP, when tried to run Office Word for example, get error message that said need to run Setup
* Was not clear what Setup meant
* Using Install CD, tried running Repair. Failed. Tried running Remove. Failed.
* At Control Panel tried Add/Remove Program for Office 2007. Said Failed.
* Went to Microsoft support online and found the 6-page description on what to do when cannot uninstall Office 2007 - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218/en-us
* Instructions in Step 3 take you to folder .../ProgramFiles/Microsoft Office - but does not tell you what to do with the files in that folder. Confusing...
* Then takes you to the MSOCache folder and says to delete certain files. Some I could delete, but some give message that they could not be opened. (I was running in administrative mode and no other applications were running)
* I followed the 6-page description of what to do the best I could.
* Then when I go to reinstall with disc 1, the progress bar gets half way and I get the error message:

Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 encountered an error during setup.
Error 25005. Per-user install not supported. (Close)

The detailed error report sent to Microsoft for this error I've put in this file: http://durhambryans.com/SetupExe(2009022320515913DC).log

I have spent many hours on this.

I'd like not to have to abandon a product that I spent $300 for, for the other options out there.

Does Microsoft have a program that will do an uninstall that works, as opposed to the Remove program on the install disc?

Many people seem to be running into this. I've tried everything I've seen to try.

Any help in solving this would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you -- Sam

I (the originator of this thread) made a mistake in reporting the error code below it should be 25004 NOT 25005. Sorry about that. -- Sam

I have followed the instructions to remove the trial program, but
can't find the drive_letter:\MSOCache\All Users folder
