Cannot use Entourage

When I start up Entourage (2004) on my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.4.10), it
immediately gives me the rainbow pinwheel and I have to force quit the
application. I suspect that I have a corrupt message in my outbox,
which I would happily delete.

How can I get to this message to delete it?

Hold down the Shift key when you launch Entourage; this will disable any
schedules set to launch at startup. Once you've got Entourage running,
disable the preview pane (View>Preview Pane>None) and see if there is indeed
an item in your outbox. Delete it, then re-enable the preview pane
(View>Preview Pane>[your preferred option here]), and all should be well
again. If you are still experiencing problems afterwards, post back.
