Cannot use mouse in Word and Word does not open file when double c

Not sure if it has a connection, but since I install the latest Micosoft
update for Office + Security Patches on July 12, I have several problems:

1. Cannot use mouse in Word. If I start in safe mode it works, but not a
solution for me
2. When I double click a file associated with Word, it will open Word but
will not show the document. Then when I close Word it will crash.

Any suggestions?

No suggestions, but this is exactly the same problem I am suddenly having
(see the post just prior to yours...). This suggests there are many more with
the same problem and that it really is connected to the recent updates -- and
so by now Microsoft will have seen this problem and hopefully will come up
with a solution fast!!!
