Cannot use mouse in Word, cannot open Word by double-clicking

I have read previous postings and none of the following have worked:

- repairing Word
- registering Word
- file association settings - DDE, etc..
- /unregister /register
- removing file association settings
- uninstalling office, rebooting, reinstalling office

I still can not double click word files to open them.
I still can not use my mouse to click to a certain location in the
opened document.

I do not have anti virus running nor have I dont registry cleaning.

There is no application I am more dependent on than Word!
Please help.
