Cannot view formulas in address bar

As per the subject.

If I click on the cell with the formula I cannot see what
that formula is in the address bar. However if I click the
address bar the formula appears.

I have checked the worksheet protection and it is not
protected. I have also looked at the Cell Formatting and
the cell is not hidden nor portected.
