Cannt Import XLS forms in Access

I need a little help.

Have nt4 OS with Office 97 installed. When i try to import a date into the database, I cannt see XLS as an option in "Files of Type". I have a full install of Office 97 with all Service releases and Value packs. I have tried to remove and reinstall both Access and Excel ad reinstalling at differant times. DOes anyone have an Idea of what else to try
