There is a function in the Access Help and How to on Eliminating unwanted
blank lines in labels and reports.

It appears to be exactly what I want but I can't get it to print more than
the first value - has anyone used this who can help?

If you are using CanShrink, did you forget to set the
**section** CanShrink property to Yes?

If that's not the problem, what did you do? What data is
producing what undesirable result?

Thanks for the reply. Once I'd realised it only works on text strings and
converted my numbers to text everything works fine.

Just what I needed function.

While it's nice to hear that you got it to work, your reason
doesn't make sense. If you want to try to figure out what
going on, post details about the values and expression that
you were using.

I had numeric values of say 1,5,20 and entered put =canshrinklines(1,5,20)
then only 1 on one line would print out.

If I put =canshrinklines(str(1),str(5),str(20)) then all three values
printed out in a column.

I still don't see how you can have a problem with numbers.
When I try the function using numbers, it works as expected,
so I have to guess there was some other factor involved.

Not really important, but FYI (and as that article
indicates), you can get the same effect by using an
expression that judiciously uses & and + to concatenate the
values.
