Can't accent invitation in Entourage 2004

I'm working with Entourage 2008 (IMAP account) on Mac OS X 10.5.6. When I send a meeting request from my computer, recipients working with Entourage 2004 can't "Accept". The options "Accept, Decline, Tentative" are grey out. Recipients working with Entourage 2008 are fine. Is this a bug in Entourage 2008 or 2004? Is there any solutions how to fix it? TIA

This has been reported before but with no solution other than to try
right-clicking the invitation and accepting using the contextual menu.
