Can't accept or decline appointments

We are running exchange 2000, with office xp.. One of our users (a manager)
is getting a strange error. When certain people in the company send her an
invitation to a meeting through outlook, she cannot accept/decline OR delete
the invitation.

I have tried just about everything I can think of (plus suggestions from a
couple of mates) but the culprit invites still haunt her inbox. I have tried
bloody everything. I've scanned her pst and ost files for corruptions without
success. I've made her a member of the same groups as the senders, without
success. It must be some kind of AD permission error, is I can send her
invitations which she can accept and decline without problems.

She keeps getting the error "Can't open this item. Could not complete the
operation. One or more parameters are not valid". I am at my wits end, have
spent the last 3 hours trying everything that pops to mind. Can anyone
suggest a fix that doesn't involve creating a whole AD account? I'm going out
of my mind!
