I have FP2002 & FP98 installed on a laptop (os WinME) connecting by my home
network to DSL connection. I have no problem accessing all FP webs (with
extensions) for editing/publishing on this computer.
However, on another computer on the home network running winXP using FP98,
when I attempt to open any of these same webs, I get this error message:
"server error; client closed connection". This error also happens when using
FP98 on another computer with FP98 installed (OS: Win98) using dialup at my
son's home. But I used to be able to edit from any of these computers.
With repeated tries, I get the message about authoring against other authors
and having the administrator check the log. Where would this log be? I would
like to check it if I could find it.
I haven't got a clue what has changed, except that I reformatted my laptop's
harddrive and reinstalled both versions of FP (including calling MS to
register FP2002 because I exceeded their permissible # installs). Also, I
don't know if it could have anything to do with the administration tools &
settings on each fpweb that you access from FP2002.
My webs are all located at cphosting.com; some at my own resellers acct and
one hosted directly by them. They all use unix - apache, and as I said, FP
extensions are installed.
Any help would be appreciated. I have posted this question twice to a
yahoogroup for FP but it keeps getting ignored. I am almost ready to switch
to a different editing software as this is crippling. (I'd really be in
trouble if my laptop breaks down.)
