I access an excel 'database' from a FrontPage based web.
When I publish to my own (inhouse)server all works OK.
When I publish to the external webserver, it can't access
the spreadsheet. I keep getting errors. "Data source name
not found and no default driver specified".
I tried opening the page in Frontpagefrom the public
server rather than my PC. Worked OK, but when I tried to
edit the database connection in Frontpage, I got an
error:- "The database results region cannot be edited
because the Frontpage database features are not available
on this web."
When I tried to verify the database connection, it came
back with:- "The Frontpage database features are not
available for one of the following reasons: The web
administrator may have disabled them; your server is
running an older version of Frontpage Server Extensions;
or the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) component may
not be installed on the web server. Please contact your
database administrator."
I understand that MS Frontpage (Version 2000 and after)
is supposed to set up all the database connections
itself, although it needs the ODBC and ADO options
installed.
The Web Hoster tells me Extensions are installed, and all
functions activated.
Can anyone help me?
