Craig S.,
I just upgraded from MS Office 2000 Pro to MS Office 2003 Pro, this morning,
and got my "grandfathered" HotMail acct to work in Outlook 2003, that came
with Office 2003 Pro Suite.
1. Dell Dim E521, with WinXP Pro MCE (2005), with all the updates except for
a few.
2. MS Office 2003 w/all updates installed first.
3. Using IE6/OE6 with appropriate updates, can access HotMail acct through
OE also. Not planning to run IE7 or WindowsMail at this time. I know that
there has been a problem with IE7, after a recent MS HotFix (KB931768), was
installed. You might need to see if this is affecting your situation. You
might need to uninstall this update, and see if it makes a difference.
4. Ran the new acct wizard in Outlook, and selected a "new" HTTP acct.
Filled in settings.
Seems to work fine on my PC for now, so I may be one of the lucky few. There
is a setting for MSN accts also.

Is the same for Outlook 2003 and 2002/XP. If you don't have a paid
subscription you cannot make a (new) connection to Windows Live Hotmail
from
Outlook. If you were able to do so before you were one of the lucky few.

I've had an MSN (hotmail) email account that I access through Outlook
2003. I've done this for several years. Today, I had to do a repair to
WindowsXP, and now I can't access the MSN account. Nothing has changed
with the settings on my email account nor on Outlook. I've heard that
users with Outlook 2007 can't access free Hotmail or MSN accounts, but
not sure why that would affect me.

Gotta love the "consistancy" for Microsoft. Everything works fine for
a while, then at some random moment things change. Oh well...
