hi,
i am recovering from minor surgery and thought that I
would check for an update for mac microsoft office for
OSX...i successfully downloaded 10.1.2 updater...
when i tried to open Word, a set up assistant screen
pops up and asks for my name, organization and CD code...
i'm used to downloading updates from mac and you don't have
to do this...
it seems that i can't get past this set-up screen ... i
don't have the CD that installed office on this computer
b/c it's at the university that i commute to and i won't be
there for 3 weeks...
do i have to have the CD number? How can i get to word
and excel, etc.?
thanks so much...
chris

Yes, you need to have the CD key to get any further.

The key should normally be carried over through the upgrade process. The
most common reason or the number being blocked and you getting the
registration screen is that the key you were using has been flagged by MS as
a 'pirated' number - they monitor the hackker sites and each upgrade blocks
the serial numbers that are published there.

If this is likely to apply to you, you will need to get a legitimate number.
If not, and there is some other reason why the number was not carried over,
putting the number in on Monday when you get to it should solve the problem.
Until then, there is nothing you can do.
