Can't activate Microsoft Office, home and Student 2007

I had a trial version pre installed on my laptop. Upon expiry I bought a new
pack including product key. When trying to activate MO through the Activation
assistant icon it directs me to Word and prompts to convert. When clicking on
convert nothing happens and MO remains as a viewer only. My laptop is always
connected to the internet.

When trying to run the CD in the pack is mprompts that a needed file is
eihter corrupted or non existing.

Does any one have a clue because i'm going mad?

Uninstall the trial version. Reboot. Install the CD. If you still get an
error message, we need to know exactly what it says.
