Can't add a new calendar event

J

Jeff C

I'm not able to add a new calendar event. Here's a possible reason why.
About a month ago my email PST file size got to 2 Gig. Once it had gotten to
that size Outlook wouldn't open. So I tried to do a Repair Inbox. That
didn't work. So I had to send the file to our out of office repair guy to
fix the problem. He did, he got it to about 1.5 gig & from there I got it
donw to about a gig. But now I can't start a new calendar event. So i
thought I'd check in here to see if anyone knows how to fix this problem
before I call our tech guy who costs $85 an hour to see if he can fix the
problem.

You can try the SCANPST (Inbox Repair) again. You may need to do it more
than once.

What happens when you try to add a new event; do you get an error message?
What version of Outlook are you using?

I've ran SCANPST 3 times today.

I'm running Outlook 2000

I double click on the day that I want to add an event. The New Event dialog
box opens up & I put in the info that I want for that Event. Then when I
click Save & Close. The event never shows up but when I try & put the event
in again it says that their is an event already scheduled for that time.

I don't see Table View as an option.

On the whole, if you have to truncate your PST to get it working again, then
you are losing data. My opinion is that the behavior of your PST is
probably due to being damaged in the truncaton process, even though SCANPST
repaired it well enough to allow Outlook to access it. The smartest thing
you can do is to create a new PST, make it your delivery location, and copy
the stuff you want to keeop active from the old to the new. Then create an
third PST and put the rest of the stuff (the stuff you didn't move because
you don't need to access it all the time) into that third PST. This will
give you two smaller, working PSTs and you can close the one that gives you
the trouble.

It's not the name of a view - but a type of view. Try by category.
