Okay, I have 2 problems. If it helps, I am on Windows XP Pro w/
Office XP Pro installed, using FrontPage 2000. I have installed IIS
and FP extensions. I have installed all updates for WinXP and Office
XP.
- When attempting to open my Web-based web, I cannot add the new
location (you know, where you have to click "new folder" and type in
the URL of the web). The error box IMMEDIATELY pops up saying the web
is not an available volume, etc. It doesn't even search for it, this
is NOT a problem w/ permissions at the host server. I CAN open the
web by using File->Recent Webs, but trying to add it to Web locations
is impossible. I have seen this exact problem posted about, and I
realize that going to the home page and using IE's "edit w/ FrontPage"
is a workaround, but I would really like to find out what the deal is
and fix it.
- When trying to publish a disk-based Web on one drive to the
Inetpub/wwwroot folder on my C drive, FP gives the error that a web
server cannot be found at localhost (and the IP equivalent, and the
computername, etc., ALL ways of referring to the wwwroot folder). I
have verified that FrontPage extensions are installed, and said "yes"
to the task prompt asking if I should "tighten security" at the the
default website root folder (which I believe is wwwroot). IIS is
running, as I can access the IIS defaulet pages and see that ASP is
running, etc., by using the http://localhost/ address.
Please help me solve these issues. If I recall correctly, I
encountered a huge amount of problems w/ PWS and FP 2000 on my Win98
machine, and apparently the issue back then was that PWS and server
extensions and Office had to be installed in a particular order. If
that is the case w/ this current setup, I'd like any advice, as I will
be wiping and starting over anyway.
Thanks for ANY help on this, it is appreciated. If I should be
posting this to a different group, please let me know.
