Can't add or move text on pages with outlines

For some reason when I go to pages where I've created outlines there are
times when the page seems to be "locked," so I can't select, cut, or paste
text modules and can't type any where on the page.

If I switch tabs and come back to the page (or change pages within a
section) then it seems to work fine. What is happening and how can I fix it?

Are you using SP1? Is anybody else accessing the same .ONE file?

O.K., try this. Next time it locks, click File | Current Section | Allow
others to Edit and see if it releases the lock.

Also, under Tools | Options | Open and Save see if the Automatically
Release File Locks box is checked and what value is in the box next to it.

O.K. Can't seem to make the error happen, so I could try suggestion 1. But
will the next time it happens.

Re Suggestion 2: The box is checked and the value next to it is "1". Is
this the right setting or should I change it?

The settings you have are fine. Your My Notebook folder is on your local
hard drive, right? Not shared on some server drive or other machine?

Okay. I got the problem to happen again, but the solution made it worse:

I switched to "allow others to edit," and the outline worked once, but then
I couldn't edit the text until I switched back to "allow on me to edit." Now,
I can edit the text
but have to switch to another page in the section and then back again for
the outline to show up and then have to switch back to "allow others to
edit," and then back between sections to be able to expand and collapse the
outline...

Hmmm...o.k., that's not what I expected it to do. :)

The problem you're having seems clearly to do with file locks. Remind me
which OS you're on; WinXP yes? SP2? Is the folder the OneNote files are
in shared?
