Can't add records to subform

I have a .adp Access project with backend SQL 7.0 (running on NT 4.0 server SP6a) . It contains a form with a synchronized subform in datasheet view. I've been using it with Office XP on Win98, no problem for a long time

I just moved the .adp to a Win2k system with Office XP to access the same SQL 7.0 backend. Now I can't add new records into the datasheet subform. The existing records in the subform display fine, but there's no blank row for adding a new record. Office XP on the Win2k system is SP2. Office XP on the Win98 system is the original out of the box

Any ideas why I can't add records to the subform on Win2k using the same .adp?
