Can't Add Words to my Dictionary

F

Frenchy

Office Pro 2007 on Vista Ultimate. The option to ADD TO DICTIONARY is
grayed out when I right click on a word I need to add to the dictionary.

This option is working in Windows Mail. I have had a look at the .lex file
in Windows Mail and all OK, but can't find the same for WinWord? There is
also no available ADD button in PowerPoint Spelling

Thanks

Hey mate,

I had the same problem and spent ages googling for answers. There seems
to be heaps of different reasons for this problem judging from all the
different suggestions on the web. I will tell you how I fixed mine. I
hope it helps!!

In word, click the "Office Button" and go to Word Options. Click
Proofing on the left and then find the Custom Dictionaries button and
click it. There should be a custom dictionary with a checkmark, probably
named "Custom.dic". If not then that would be your problem
However, if you do have a custom dictionary in use, check that the
dictionary language is set to "All Languages". Mine was set to
English(Australia) which caused the problem. Similarly, if it is set to
English(US) or any other language, the Add to Dictionary thingo in all
the Office applications wont work.

Hope that helps...please let me know how you go. If you need any
clarification just ask and ill try my best

Btw, I am using Office 07 on windows xp not vista, but I think it will
be all the same...
