can't back up Entourage

I use MozyHome for Mac to back up online. Entourage does not appear in my configuration choices or in the backup log. I'm in touch with Mozy support, but so far not very helpful. I've reinstalled Mozy but the situation remains the same. Entourage updates are current.

I'd like to try reinstalling Entourage but I have to be sure I lose nothing in the process and can transfer everything to the new install – contents of folders, address book, etc. Entourage Help tells me how to install but only for the first time. Not finding anything about reinstalling. Advice?

Hi Jane,

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)

I use MozyHome for Mac to back up online. Entourage does not appear in my configuration choices or in the backup log. I'm in touch with Mozy support, but so far not very helpful. I've reinstalled Mozy but the situation remains the same. Entourage updates are current.

I'm not familiar with MozyHome, but what are you trying to back up?
Entourage stores its data in username/documents/Microsoft User Data/,
specifically in the Main Identity folder (unless you renamed the
identity). Getting MozyHome to back that up should be just a matter of
pointing it at the right folder. I don't see why special configuration
choices would be necessary.

In the single screenshot Mozy shows, I see a special option for Apple
Mail, but nothing particular to Entourage, although there is a checkbox
for Microsoft User Data, which should do it. It doesn't look like Mozy
has even created a special set dedicated to Entourage.
I'd like to try reinstalling Entourage but I have to be sure I lose nothing in the process and can transfer everything to the new install – contents of folders, address book, etc. Entourage Help tells me how to install but only for the first time. Not finding anything about reinstalling. Advice?

RE-INSTALLING ALMOST NEVER SOLVES PROBLEMS, and can help create new
problems if you don't Remove Office first. Based on what you have said,
re-installing is NOT a good next step.

I agree. I'm not familiar with MozyHome either. Just some basics....

Entourage should not be open when backed up.
The Microsoft Database daemon and/or Notifications should also be closed.

Se this tutorial for a way to automate backup.
