can't center a category label on a line chart

Harold Good

Hi,

Yesterday I got some good help with figuring out the differences between
the line chart and xy chart. I've had to go with the line chart. I've
pretty much got it the way I want it. I've posted my data below. The <
means prior to 2007.

In Excel 2003 I could easily center the Year between the Major vertical
gridlines (every forth one, since this is quarterly data). But with my
present 2007 chart, I can't figure out how to do this. It seems to
always associate the year, with the first quarter's data, thus when I
click center, left, or right, it only moves it slighly within the space
for Q1. If I move the 2007 down a row, then it associates with Q2.

How can I get each year to center neatly between Q1 and Q4, instead of
just within Q1?

In Axis Options, I have: Interval between tick marks = 4 ; Interval
between labels, specify = 4. I've tried numerous variations here but no
help.

Thank you so much for any advice you can offer. Harold

Hi Harold ,

Arrange Your data like this;

2008 Q1 0.2 15.70%
Q2 0.2 15.80%
Q3 0.2 16.80%
Q4 0.2 21.40%
2009 Q1 0.3 24.60%
Q2 0.3 26.90%
Q3 0.3 28.00%
Q4 0.3 28.00%

That is, add a column with quarters. Then select the lot and Insert - Chart.

After you have done that, try replacing Q1 with a space and copy down.
