CAN'T CHANGE ALIGNMENT OF TEXT IN A TABLE

J

Julie

I'm doing a table with double line spacing and I'd like
the text to run along the bottom of the cell, or even the
center of the cell, but no matter what I do it stays at
the top. I've gone to the Tables and Borders toolbar,
selected the option for the horizontal and vertical
alignment I wanted - for example, Align Bottom Center or
Align Top Right, and the text will move left or right but
the most it will move down is a fraction of an inch and
it's still in the upper half of the cell. Please what am I
doing wrong? I have Word 2002. thanks

G'Day Julie,

Examine the Paragraph Formatting - ensure
'Space after' is set to zero.

Thanks for the reply Pat, but 'Space after' is set to zero
and still doesn't work. Any more suggestions?

Ok!
How 'bout line-spacing - anything that would push
a normal line of text UP, would affect what you are trying
to do -- OH HELL ---------- If only I could read........

The double spacing is the problem.

What I suggest you do it set the line spacing to 'exactly'
and set the value to 2 x the Text Size - if the text is 12 pt
set the spacing to 'exactly' 24 pt.
