Can't change filter in "Customize Current View" OL03

I use OL '03 and have created a few custom views. Unfortunately, they seem
to have lost the filter that I put on each of them. Further, when I click
"Customize Current View" I find that the Filter button is greyed out.

Can someone tell me how to rectify this? Thank you very much.
