Can't change formula to lowercase?

I have a spreadsheet with DDE links in it & for some reason I can't edit the
formula to change Uppercase to Lowercase. (ie. trying to change Downtime to
downtime). It accepts the change when I edit it, but when I hit enter &
move off the cell it changes back to Uppercase???

FORMULA =(CDMDDE|'C:\Program
Files\OMRON\CX-Server\lori.cdm'!\Downtime\MonthYear)

It's all to do with how the DDE functions were first defined by the addin
providing the functions. Not much you can do about it unless you can get
into the addin, delete the ucase function name then retype it how you want
it in lcase.
