Can't change line spacing in slide titles

C

Cowtoon

Using PPT 2003.

For some reason, I cannot change line spacing in the "title boxes" for each
of my slides (in any of my files). I can change spacing in other text
boxes, so it not a method issue. Is this by design?

Thanks.

Put your cursor in the title box you want to change the line spacing and
select Format, Line Spacing select either Lines or Points as your
measurement

Steve, I think you might be right on it treating the "title" as a single
paragraph.
It was a good suggestion to try line spacing, however, it's irritatingly
consistant ... it treats the entire text box as one line - arghhhhh. I
cannot change the spacing between two of these lines ... bummer!!! WTF. Do
I have to remove the title box and insert a regular text box for all those
slides ...
I don't think so !!!! argghhhhhhhh!!!

Thanks for your suggestion Steve. It's appreciated!

It does act a bit odd, doesn't it. It seems to treat the entire title as a
single paragraph. It allows you to set line spacing but not Before/After
Paragraph, it seems. What if you just use Line Spacing?

Hmmm ... I did select the line and then tried the two lines as I wanted to
increase the space between the first two lines, but leave the next two with
single space. Nothing I did affected how the spacing was applied. It would
always be applied to all three lines.
Now I'm miffed!

It works with line spacing here (PPT2003 and I can try other versions if you
like). But don't forget, you need to select all of the lines of text you
want
spacing to apply to. Seems not to work if you select the text box itself.

For sure this is unusual. I'm sure I was able to do this before. I'll try
it at home and see if it has the same results and let you know.

How weird. I poked at it some more and found that I *didn't* have to do
more
than click within the text to have line spacing (but not before/after
paragraph
spacing) apply to all lines in the title.

The AutoFit to Placeholder has some effect on the amount of spacing but
doesn't
totally prevent applying it.

What version of PPT do you have again?

Ok Steve, I tested it at home ... with a completely different install. I
had purchased it for home, so it's not related to the work install.

I get the same results. If I put my cursor in a line and adjust the line
spacing ... it affects all lines (in the title box). If I select a single
line (in its entirety), all lines will take on the new spacing. Note that
this isn't a problem with the body text box ... just the title.

At home I have SP2, but at work they haven't implemented any of the SP's, so
that doesn't seem to make a difference. .

I'm at a loss!
