Can't click mouse into Word 2003 doc

Hello, all. I have Word 2003 (version 11.6359.6360) SP1 on XPPro SP1. I also
use Word as my email editor in Outlook 2003. Numerous times daily, Word
doesn't let me click into the document area with the mouse. I can still type
and move around with the keyboard. I can even click the mouse in the menu
bar, but not in the document area. I've even refreshed the Intellimouse
Optical USB mouse I'm using to the latest version of the software hoping it
would fix it to no avail. This problem also happens in Outlook when I'm
trying to work on an email. What's causing this? Any solutions? Thanks.
