Can't Close or Move Help Window

Somehow, my Help window for Excel is positioned at the extreme top of my screen. I cannot access the "close" or "minimize" buttons, nor can I move it out of the way. How do I "grab" the window to move it down a little, so I can close the darn thing?

I have Excel 11.5.3 on a Macintosh Powerbook G4 under OS 10.4.11.

In the directory (Your user name):Library:preferences:Microsoft, delete the
file Microsoft Component Preferences.

The Help window can be closed with Command-W, but it will reappear at the
same place the next time unless you delete this file.

Hello JL,

Yes, that worked. Thank you so much.

Do you know why this happened? Was it something I did, or is it a known bug?

I'm having a similar problem: I have ONE workbook in Excel, and I
cannot move its window at all. I can command-N and make a new
workbook/spreadsheet, and I can move that window all I want. I can
click the close, minimize, and maximize buttons, but I can't move the
darn thing.

I have done what you suggest but unfortunately I haven't been able to
solve the problem.
Also I cannot close the Help wndow by command-W I need to quit excel.
Any idea?

Just before command-W (Apple-w), click once on the Help window, it will make
it the active window, the one that receives keyboard commands.

Did you delete the preference file when Excel was NOT running? You must,
because it's only read when the program starts.

This is always radical and to avoid whenever possible, but did you try
force-quitting Excel from the force-quit item of the Apple menu? If the
Apple menu doesn't drop because Excel is frozen, switch first to the Finder
with command-tab.

You cannot move it because the workbook is protected with the window
position option turned on. Go to Tools, Protection, Unprotect Workbook.
