can't connect exchange but no notice

My boss is using mac book. Last week he has gone on a business trip and he
stayed at a hotel. Hotel provide the wifi internet service for my boss.

He can use outlook web access to access our exchange server 07 but hotel had
blocked other port in their firewall.

He can't use entourage 08 to connect to exchange server. But entourage
didn't show any failure notice or undeliverable message because after he
sent some email in entourage, those email still gone to sent item and We
still can't receive those email until now.

Is it possible that entourage cannot outgoing but no failure notice?
