Can't connect from PP to PS

Dear all

I've successfuly installed MS PS 2003 trial on MS Windows
Server 2003 SE with MSDE2000 and WSS.
I can use PWA, but I have the problem with connection from
Project Pro(on WinXP) to the server.

I get the MSSQL error (or the other similar, TCP/IP
Sockets instead of DBNETLIB):
Connection failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 2
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]
ConnectionOpen(COnnect())
Connection failed:
SQLState:'08001'
SQL Server Error: 17
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB] SQL
Server does not exist or access denied.

I see other users had the same problem. I tried solutions
in KB818047, KB837653 or MDAC update(at client from 2.7-

2.8) as described at www.projectified.com in

article "Project Pro: SQL Error when Connectiong to
Server".

We would like to evaluate PS, but it seems it's not
possible... I'm really exhausted :-( and I would really
appreciate any new ideas which could help us.

Dear Miro,

Did you try cliconfg.exe? If not then:
1. Click Start > run > type cliconfg.exe > OK
2. Select "TCP/IP" under enabled protocols.
3. OK

Try again.

Yes, i've tried.
I've just moved through the problem meanwhile.
(btw, I have other problem to solve, now I have
incompatible codepages on server and pc running project
pro).

The problem was to run svrnetcn.exe (tool is a part of
MSDE) and enable TCP/IP protocol on server side.
