Can't connect remotely to Project Web Access using Project Authentication

I'm having a problem connecting outside our domain using
a user account set up to use project server
authentication. The server has an extranet address and
IIS is configured to enable anonymous users. When the
url for the project server is entered it will prompt for
credentials but entering the user name and password for
the project authentication account does not work. It
loops through the credentials prompt again. If a user
name and password is entered that uses Windows
authentication it works. We have clients that need to
access Project Web Access that will not have Windows
accounts on our domain.

We're running Project Server 2003.

Any help would be appreciated.

Users need to authenticate to the box before they can use Project Server
authentication. You need to give them a domain account or a local logon on
the box. Consider using Terminal Services.
