Can't connect to Hotmail Plus from Outlook 2002

I have a functioning hotmail Plus account that I can access from the web and
have set up the account in Outlook 2002 as per the instructions. Whenever I
try to logon to hotmail I get the message 'A connection to the server could
not be established. http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp is now
in offline mode'. Or ' The service is currently unavailable. Try again later.
The server responded 'service unavailable'.

I'm using AOL 9.0 Gold broadband DSL to connect to the internet and have
tried various connection options (LAN / Dialup / 3rd party) etc. and
restarting the software but still get the same error message. Any help
gratefully appreciated.

when did you create the account (or upgrade to hotmail plus) - it may not be
properly provisioned for http. try it in OE and see if it works - that will
help determine if it's outlook or hotmail.
