Can't control fonts when pastaing

I find that, particularly when I cut and paste text into an email I'm
composing, I can't control the fonts. I highlight and make the changes, and
nothing happens. Or sometimes something happens, but not what I told it to
do! Sometimes I can highlight just 90% of the text and it will re-format
fine, but I can't get the last word or 2 to change.

Any thoughts? I've had this happen in Outlook 2000 and 2003.

When copying from a non-plaintext area, text attributes such as font,
size, color, are copied with the text. I usually paste/cut into/from
Notepad to get rid of the formatting.

There may be add-ins to copy as plain text only, but I don't know of any
outside of Firefox.
