I'm trying to do the Walkthrough: Developing a Workflow
Application Using Workflow Designer for SQL Server.
I'm running Windows XP Pro, Office XP Developer 2002, and
have SQL Server 2000(Developer Edition I think) installed
on my local machine.
SQL Server is using Windows security. My local Windows
username is set up with Administrator priviledges.
Per the walkthrough, I have created my tables in Access,
and am at the point where I "register" my Workflow
application. I start the Office XP IDE and attempt to
create an SQL Server Workflow Project.
I get the following message.
"Unable to create the Project. Verify that the WorkFlow
Services for SQL Server is installed correctly and try
again."
No reference to this service shows in my SQL Server
Service Manager so I guess it's not installed.
I cannot find anything that tells me how to install this
service in the SQL "books on line". I did find a KB
article 298391 that alludes to the fact that you cannot
have the server installed on the "local" machine and have
the workflow features be available. True?
Am I interpreting this correctly? Is there a way to
install SQL Server locally and to have this work?
The KB article alludes that a "domain name" must be used
in the installation of SQL Server to have these features
be available. How do I do this?
Any suggestions on how to proceed? I'm posting this on
the SQL Server group as well.
Thanks.
