can't create MDE file ??!!!

I have developed a MDB access program and wanna change it
into a MDE file type but the option from the tool menu
bar is blurred and I can't change it into MDE format. I
am using XP windows and office and the database is
originally developed in windows ME and Access 97/2000.
However, when I open the access program from windows 98
or ME, I can convert them to MDE file. Why?????? and how
can I solve it ?

If you're now using Office (Access) XP (the operating system, the
version of Windows, is pretty much irrelevant) you must convert the
database from Access2000 format to Access2002 format in order to make
a MDE. Alternatively, if you still have Access2000 around, you can use
it (or reinstall it) to create an Access2000 format MDE.

Another possible problem is that a database must be compiled before
converting to MDE. Open the VBA editor and select Debug... Compile;
fix any compilation errors. Then make the MDE.
