can't create new appointment MSO 2007

Outlook 2007. Can't create a new Appoitment. I can click on a time and type
in appt, however it disappears when pressing enter. Can click on New Appt,
but it will not save and close.
Workaround is to copy a nearby appt and typeover new text.
Ran Scanost, no errors. Have all Vista and Office 2007 updates.
Ran Office diagnostics, all ok.
And yes I performed the number one solution to 95% of problems (get out of
the car and get back in), to no avail.

No errors. I can click on New Appt, but it will not save and close, the
window simply sits there. I can only close it by X'ing and choosing don't
save. If I choose save, nothing happens.
The only thing that I have noticed that has changed si that when I
re-started Outlook it took a little longer starting and displayed a message:
"Preparing Outlook for first use". This I guess because of the Office updates.
Now here's something new. I just started my laptop, it gave me the same
message as above, and now is refusing appointments as well. Same exact
response.

By the way, Microsoft Outlook Web Access works fine.

Could be a forms problem, try the following:

To clean up the forms cache.

To do so, follow these steps:
1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. Click the Other tab, and then click Advanced Options.
3. Click Custom Forms.
4. Click Manage Forms.
5. Click Clear Cache.
6. Close all open windows, and then restart Outlook.

If the above does not work, try the following.

Deleting the Forms Cache File:
The Frmcache.dat file is the primary file to delete. The Frmcache.dat
file serves as an index of the individual forms that have been cached
on the computer. Use the following steps to manually delete the
Frmcache.dat file. In addition, these steps delete all of the cached
forms on your computer, which are stored in subfolders of the
Forms folder.

1.. Quit Outlook.
2.. Search the Hard drive (<F3>) to locate the Frmcache.dat file.
(Be sure to check in HIDDEN files on W2K or WXP.)
3.. Delete all that are found from the FIND window.
4.. Open Outlook.

When you restart Outlook, and use a form, the forms cache
is re-created.

Thank you very much Nikki, but no go. I've also begun to unintall each of the
2 dozen or so updates that installed yesterday, begining with all the outlook
updates and including IE8. This is happeng on two computers. I have a third
that works fine. I will check it to see what the differences are (besides it
being WinXP).

The other updates went fine. I have been hearing rumblings
on the IE8 though. If I was you I would keep the other, but
maybe start checking into the IE8.

my PC.
On my laptop I performed a System Restore to 4/25 which removed all the
Office updates. It worked!
The most recent updates are 2007 MSO SP1 and 5 security updates.
When I return later today, I will begin to install one at a time till I find
the culprit.

OkI did a restore to pre-updates and installed the updates one by one, and
tested the calendar each time. After installing the office 2007 SP2 is when I
was no longer allowed to enter new appointments. I uninstalled the update and
it still failed to work correctly. I will now run a restore to pre-update.
Obviosuly the issue is with the SP2

After uninstalling MSO2007SP2, the calendar failed. I uninstalled the SP2,
but it didn't work. I thought I was restoring to pre-MSOffice 2007 SP2, but I
was actually restoring to pre 'uninstall' of SP2. Makes no sense at all. But,
it appears that I have SP2. Now Outlook works fine. Go figure!
This is why I opt for PC over Mac, because it keeps me both challenged and
happily clueless.
