Can't create new rules for OL folders

A

A Baffled User

Am using Outlook 2000, running Vista Home Premium, 3 GB RAM.

Under Organize | Rules Wizard, suddenly there are no checkmarks next to the
rules I created for sorting incoming e-mails into different OL folders and
the folder names are absent. When I place a checkmark in one of these boxes
and then click "Specified Folder"--i.e., in order to specify into what
folder I want such and such an e-mail to automatically go--a Microsoft
Outlook dialog box appears saying, "Out of memory or resources. Close some
windows or programs and try again."

There's no way I'm out of memory or resources with only one or two
programs/windows open. Besides which, closing programs/windows makes no
difference. What's up?

I've also had occasional instances of the problem I've seen other users post
to this forum, the "Outlook has stopped working and will now close" one. I'm
not having that problem at the moment, however. When it occurs, I usually
either perform a system restore or remove recent Windows or other updates
until OL restabilizes.
