I tried creating a pdf of a workbook page in Excel using Acrobat 6.0.2.

I tried using the adobe print driver installed by Acrobat 6.0.2. It went through the
process, both icon coming up, and bouncing; indicating the driver working and
Distiller working. But no pdf was to be found.

Then I tried using the PDFMaker within Excel I saved the file as required. Then
clicked on the PDFMaker icon. a progress bar came up got to about 85% and never
finished. clicking on the adobe driver icon in the Dock the window came up and
indicated no job being processed. dismissing it caused the Progress bar to disappear.

What's going on?

in word seems to work fine.

I tried using printer set up as my regular printer and also as Adobe PDF, same results.

I've posted this in the adobe Acrobat forum on the Adobe server as well.

I've often had the same problem :_\

I've had nothing but problems with the PDF Maker and the PDF virtual
printer. I end up flashing the file through the system and optimizing it
in Acrobat or flashing a .ps file and dumping it on the Distiller app
now. That's the only relyable way I found :-\

The odd thing is that if you use the create pdf in the Print command, (using apple's
version of PDF) it works fine. But not with PDF Maker nor using the "Adobe Printer".

In fact, Preview can just as easily read pdf files, so is Adobe acrobat
really necessary?

Actually yes Apple license's a very old version of PDF technology that create large
files and for the most part are uneditable. If we could get Acrobat to work in Excel.

I have a feeling its an excel2004 thing as Word2004 allows Acrobat create Pdf's;
although I have the same note into Adobe about Acrobat 6.2 to see if someone at
Adobe will answer as well.
