can't delet lines

Walter

I have separated my thoughts in a word document using ten or fifteen = signs
typed in a row.
Now each row of equal signs has turned into a single straight line going
across the entire page.

I woluld now like to remove sevearal of these lines, however I cannot
highlight the lines to delete them. I can move them up or down in the space
between my paragraphs, but I don't see any way to get rid of them.

Can someone help?

You'll have to thank Word's AutoCorrect feature for that. The line you see
is not a proper line, it is a border that is automatically created by Word
when you type several dashes or minus signs in a row. So place your cursor
next to the line (could also be above or below the line, I forget which),
then go to Format>Borders and Shading to remove the border.

To prevent this from happening again, go to Tools>AutoCorrect, select the
Tab "AutoFormat As You Type" and make sure that the checkbox next to Borders
in the "Apply as you type" section is not checked.
