Can't delete a checked-out project from EPM because user has left

B

Bob C.

Just found this discussion area, it has been very helpful.

One of our project managers left the company, and he was deleted from the
EPM server. However, one of his projects is checked out on the server, and
the admin can't delete the project because it is checked out. Nor can the
admin check in the project.

We are using Project 2003 (not 2007).

Any ideas how to resolve this?

Thanks,

Hi Bob,

You have couple of options to check in project. Please use the option
1 as below to check in project plan. If the option 1 doesn't work use
option 2 to check in project.

Option 1:

Log on to PWA as Administrator; Click on Admin menu -> Actions, click
Manage enterprise features.
In the side pane, under Enterprise options, click Check in enterprise
projects

Option 2:

You have to use SQL Enterprise Manager/SQL Query Analyzer:

Access the Project Server database and Open MSP_Projects table and
look for name of the project under PROJ_NAME column, and set the
PROJ_CHECKEDOUT value as 0 for that project.

Thanks

Hi Bob,

(Note: Added the missing step of check in project)

You have couple of options to check in project. Please use the option
1 as below to check in project plan. If the option 1 doesn't work use
option 2 to check in project.

Option 1:

Log on to PWA as Administrator; Click on Admin menu -> Actions, click
Manage enterprise features.
In the side pane, under Enterprise options, click Check in enterprise
projects

Select the checked out project and click the Check-In button

Option 2:

You have to use SQL Enterprise Manager/SQL Query Analyzer:

Access the Project Server database and Open MSP_Projects table and
look for name of the project under PROJ_NAME column, and set the
PROJ_CHECKEDOUT value as 0 for that project.

Chak-

Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately when I click on "Check in enterprise projects" the project
does not appear. I'll have someone from my IT group (who are overall quite
smart, although not very familiar with MS Project) get into the database and
switch the flag as you described.

Thanks!
