Can't delete a highlighted section

I just switched to Mac and am going crazy trying to figure out how to
do the simplist stuff. When I highlight a section and try to delete
it, it only deletes the cell that I started from. I can't find
anything in the Help section. Am I missing something here?

On the Mac, there is a difference between the Delete key and the backspace
key. Seems like you are hitting the backspace key (It is labeled delete, and
next to the += key). To delete the entire selection, press the DEL key ­ it
is probably on the key cluster 2 keys down from F13.
