Can't delete a label and/or text box control

I'm in design view, have clicked on the text box control,
hit the delete key, and my box isn't deleted. I've also
used the right mouse-click method, as well as the
edit/delete from the menu method and nothing is happening.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help!

If this still happens after you restart your computer, the database is
partically corrupt.

Create a new database, and import all the tables, queries, and *other*
forms, reports, code. Rebuild the faulty form (or you may be able to import
it from an old backup).
