can't delete a task in '03

I am unable to delete or cut a task in Project 03. I noticed this problem
after copying some 1st 2nd & 3rd-level Summary Tasks, saving the project and
then attempting to delete a task that fell under the 3rd-level summary task
of the original.
Example:
-original-
Summary Task A
Sub-Level 1
Sub-Level 2
Sub-Level 3
task (to be deleted)
-copy-
Summary Task B
Sub-Level 1
Sub-Level 2
Sub-Level 3
task

As a work-around I tried to copy every thing under the task I wanted to
delete and then pasting it all back in the project at the position of the
task I wanted to delete. This worked but everything that was pasted was
indented & Project would not allow me to outdent any of it.
Example:
Summary Task A
Sub-Level 1...
Summary Task B
Sub-Level 1...
I checked and the File Property is not set to 'Read-Only'
Can anyone tell me what could cause this problem?

Please verify you are running the latest service pack -- Service Pack 2. This
is a known problem. SP2 is available at the link below.
