Can't delete graphic

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Well, this is weird. Just updated to 2008 and in working in a spreadsheet I placed a logo. I wanted to get rid of it, but it will not delete. Double-clicking on graphic yields standard choices - in Format Picture I deselected "Locked" and "Print Object" - no effect. Right-clicking does nothing. The graphic has the outline with the circles and squares around it. If I try to move the graphic, a new copy moves, but the original stays put.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Rick

Dumb question, but have you tried just selecting the graphic & pressing the
Delete key?

Is it in the Header/Footer or is it 'on' the sheet? And is your software &
OS fully updated?

Hey Bob,

Thanks for the reply - not a dumb Q at all - I should have been more clear. Regarding the software / OS, I just loaded Office:mac 2008 Friday night and the OS is 10.6.2.

Yep, the graphic is smack in the middle of a standard worksheet; not a header or footer. Click on it once and it is surrounded by the box with the circles and squares - should be ripe for deleting. Hit the Delete key - the surrounding box disappears, but the graphic remains. Weirdest, when I grab the highlighted graphic and try to move it, a copy appears and moves with the cursor, but the original stays put.

I just tried to delete another graphic elsewhere on the sheet - poof - gone, just like old Excel. That graphic came from Excel clip art. The two which will not move I took off a web-site - copied them to the desktop, then inserted them into the worksheet. They must like it there. I've tried messing with the Properties - the Locked button doesn't help.

Would it help to send you the worksheet? No problem to do that. Or I can send you a screen shot of the offending area.

This issue is not a huge problem at all, but we just upgraded - enjoying messing around (esp with the SmartGraphics stuff - very good) and this problem is intriguing.

Just had a thought - could this be a Snow Leopard vs. Office '08 issue?

Thanks again Bob,
Rick

From your explanation it sounds like there are multiple copies of the
graphic piled "on top" of each other...

John might be on to something there -- try grabbing the Select Objects tool
from the Drawing Tools, drag a marquee around the offending graphic(s), then
press delete.

Also, if you just installed did you apply all the Office updates afterward?
If not at 12.2.3 it may account for the problem. I doubt that it's a
SL/Office conflict, though.

Bob and John,
Yipee! Using the Select Objects tool worked in deleting the graphic. Thanks much. I haven't updated Office to 12.2.3 - just running what I installed initially; I'll download the updates.
Thanks much for the help!
Best wishes,
Rick
