Can't delete Hotmail messages from server - Outlook 2007 Windows V

I have three "Windows Live Hotmail" accounts I want to access from Outlook
2007 on Windows Vista. How can I configure the accounts in Outlook to leave a
copy of messages on server and remove messages from server when I delete them
from the "Deleted Items" folder in Outlook (like I could in Outlook Express
on WindowsXP)?

I've tried using Outlook Connector with accounts created as MAPI, but I
don't see a way to delete messages from server through Outlook.

You can do this when you configure it as a POP3 account.
Note that the Outlook Connector is a 2 way sync between the client and the
server so any changes you make off-line are also reflected to the on-line
account.

I've read that all messages from the POP3 accounts will go to the same Inbox
folder in Outlook 2007. If I configure the three Hotmail accounts as POP3, is
there a way to download all of each Hotmail account's messages to separate
folders rather than having them all going to the Inbox? (I have read
somewhere that there might be a way to filter them to separate folders.)

You can specify a separate Inbox for each POP account. Keep in mind that POP
knows only about the server's Inbox folder so if you have other Hotmail
folders, Outlook can't see them without using the Outlook Connector.

I don't see why you think you can't delete items on the server with Outlook
when you're using the connector. Any change you make in Outlook will be
reflected on the server when you use the Outlook Connector and that includes
deleting messages.

For my MAPI Hotmail accounts, the emails are not deleted from the Hotmail
server when I delete them in Outlook. I've had to delete them manually. Is
there a way for me to verify that I’m indeed using Outlook Connector for the
accounts, and that I have Outlook Connecter configured correctly?

I’m running Windows Vista Home Premium; using Outlook 2007 (12.0.6514.5000)
SP2 MSO (12.0.6425.1000). I have three MAPI Hotmail accounts in Outlook.

Scenario steps recounted: I delete an email, and it goes to the Deleted
Items folder for the account. I right click on the Deleted Items folder, and
select Empty "Deleted Items" folder. I click Yes to permanently delete all
the items. They are deleted from Outlook. However, they are not deleted from
the Hotmail server.

For my MAPI Hotmail accounts, the emails are not deleted from the Hotmail
server when I delete them in Outlook.

They should be at the next send/receive. They do for me unless there's a
synchronization error.

You can't see Hotmail folders and calendar unless you are using the Connector.
The fact that they're MAPI confirms you are using the Connector.

Try using the beta 14 version of the Connector to see if that helps:

I installed the beta 14 version of the Connector. I am indeed getting
synchronization errors. The log states, for example,

23:45:48 Synchronizer Version 14.0.4514
23:45:48 Synchronizing Mailbox '(e-mail address removed)'
23:45:48 Synchronizing Hierarchy
23:45:48 Error Synchronizing Message
23:45:48 Error with Send/Receive.

Also, all of the messages I attempted to delete show up in the "Local
Failures" folder.

Any suggestions on how to proceed from here to resolve my synchronization
issues? Thank you!

Hi Did you find an answer to this problem as I have the same problem?

To add multiple Hotmail accounts to Outlook 2007, use the Hotmail Connector
menu to add them. This type of account always leaves messages on the
server. YOu delete messages by selecting them and pressing or clicking
Delete.

Alternatively, add them as POP accounts using Tools>Account Settings and
clicking Add on the E-mail tab. Do not allow Outlook to create the accounts
automatically. Choose the manual method. When you've entered the server
and credential information, click More Settings and on the Advanced tab will
be the option to leave copies of messages on the server. With this type of
account, there's also an option to delete messages from the server when you
empty the Deleted Items folder. With that option enabled, just delete the
message in Outlook, then empty the Deleted Items folder.
