Can't delete published projects-system is hanging

We are trying to delete a published project in project
server.we are doing it through Admin ->Clean up microsoft
project server Database link.But while deleting the server
is hanging and after some time it is showing a message
like "An error occured while deleting".So we are unable to
delete it.Please help to rectify the problem
