Can't delete Section Break (next page)

I'm having a very frustrating problem with Word on my Mac. I have used
Section Break (continuous) throughout my document with no problems.
However, in the few places where I have used Section Break (next page)
I cannot get rid of them. Everytime I highlight SB (next page) and hit
delete, it jumps the SB (next page) to the previous SB (continuous), so
I keep having a page break. What gives? I hope this explanation makes
sense. Essentially I cannot delete my page breaks. Any thoughts?

I'm using Microsoft Word X for Mac on OS 10.3.8.

I just solved my own problem: Highlight the break in question, go to
Edit > Clear > Contents.
