Can't delete unwanted codes

On opening a document, a long series of codes appears at
the end. I erase them and save under a new name, but on
re-opening the document under the new name, the codes
appear again. A sample of the codes is:

Normal
Normal
Unknown User
March 13, 2003
Unknown UserGC:\WINDOWS\Application
Data\Microsoft\Word\AutoRecovery
DellComputerCorporation
ObjectPool
Default Paragraph Font
etc.

What are these codes and how do I get rid of them?

George,

When you go to File>Open look in the window labeled files of type. I
probably reads Recover Text from Any Filet. Change that to All Files or
Word.docs
