Can't display HTML emails

After upgrading from IE6 to IE7 yesterday, Outlook lost the ability to
display HTML in emails (they just show the "placeholder" red crosses). I
uninstalled IE7 and reverted to IE6, but the problem remains. Does anyone
know how I can get Outlook working properly again? ("Detect & Repair" didn't
help).
